Canoeing   Climbing

With easy access to moorland, forests, rivers, lakes and a spectacular Heritage Coast, the North York Moors offers great opportunities for adventure activities.  The Education Team can put you in touch with local outdoor pursuit centres which are qualified, and licensed through the AALS where appropriate, to provide the following activities:

  • rock climbing and abseiling
  • canoeing and kayaking
  • surfing, sailing and windsurfing
  • beck scrambling
  • mountain biking
  • orienteering. 

The AALS is the Adventure Activities Licensing Scheme.  To find out more go to www.aals.org.uk Our local centres provide activities for groups of all ages and abilities.  No previous experience is necessary and groups with special needs are welcome.  Having a go at something new is a tremendous achievement and can really improve people’s self esteem and confidence. Go on, have a go! You’ll be surprised what you and your group members can do!
