Advice and Constraints
If you require advice on whether you need planning permission, you can send in the details here. We will check out the planning history of your property and respond.
You may find it helpful to discuss your proposal with a planning officer before you finalise your scheme or submit a planning application. Sometimes it is necessary for your Area Planning Officer to visit the site before they can respond to you with their advice, or alternatively you may wish to meet with them.
Your Application
If you want to check on the progress of your application once it is submitted you can either contact your Area Planning Officer or a member of the Planning Administration team who deal with the processing of all applications and give support to the Area Planning Officers.
Someone else's Application
If your neighbour or someone in your area is proposing a development and you want to know more about it or how to object or comment, please speak to the Planning Administration Team who will be able to tell you deadlines for receipt of comments and where to send them. They will also tell you which Planning Committee the application is likely to go to.
Planning Committee
If the development proposal you are interested in is to be determined by the next Planning Committee you can view the agenda, Officer’s report and associated third party letters on this website 5 working days before the Committee meeting - just use the menu on the right.
We will write to everyone who has sent in comments on an application to tell you if it’s going before Planning Committee and if so explain how you can speak at the Committee before it makes a decision.
Enforcement
If you are concerned about development taking place in your area that may not have planning permission, or would like to report some possible unauthorised development, please visit our page on 'Enforcement'.
