Advice and Grants

Historic BuildingsThere are many historic buildings in the North York Moors which are of great value to both landscape and cultural heritage. It is important that these buildings are kept in good repair. Almost 3,000 buildings in the National Park are ‘listed’ for their special architectural or historic interest and consent is needed from the Authority for most alterations.

Free advice on repairs and maintenance of traditional buildings is provided by the National Park. Grants are available for farm building restoration as part of a 10 year agreement offered by DEFRA’s Countryside Stewardship Scheme. Exceptional listed buildings may qualify for National Park or English Heritage grant aid.
