An eroding asset
Much of the beauty of this special place is, ironically, derived from the fact that it is wearing away! Every time the waves break against the cliffs a little more rock is worn away, while rain water draining from the land leads to the collapse of the upper cliff. This is a natural process that has been going on for millions of years and it is only where man has protected his villages with sea defences that the process has been slowed down.
