Birdwatching

A 24 hour answerphone service called ‘Birdline Northeast’ provides up to date bird news from around the region.
Headlines which are given at the start of the telephone message contain all the bird news for that day. Further details and directions, including useful OS map references, follow. The Birdline Northeast message is updated several times a day. The number to call is 09068 700222. The calls are charged at 60p per minute and charges are the same regardless of your location in the UK.
Birdline Northeast will not publicise information on rare breeding birds or birds at sensitive sites and for every hotline call received a conservation fund is credited from which donations are made to lcoal bird watching clubs and societies.
Reports of rare and unusual birds can be made to Birdline North East on 07626 983963 or Birdline North West on 0151 336 6188. For information ring these premium rate lines: 09068 700 246 (North East): 09068 700 249 (North West).
