BTEC Qualifications
We are working in partnership with several local secondary schools to provide young people with the opportunity to gain practical countryside management skills. The schools offer these practical training opportunities alongside the usual GCSE courses so that students can mix GCSEs with more practical hands on training in everything involved in looking after the countryside
Young people, all aged 14 to 18, have been working towards BTEC First and National Diplomas in Countryside Management. The training covers everything from estate skills to habitat establishment and management and involves coming out for days practical training with National Park Authority staff. The First Diploma is equivalent to 4 GCSE passes and the National Diploma is equivalent to 2 A-Level passes.
29 young people are currently following BTEC courses with the Authority.
If you are interested in finding out whether your school offers these courses, please speak to your teachers.
