Can we get there together?

Developing a strategic approach to these issues is being undertaken jointly by the National Park Authority and the Highways Authorities of North Yorkshire and Redcar and Cleveland. However, it must be a strategy for us all as individuals. Reducing the environmental impact of transport will require changes in personal attitudes, not simply letting 'them' get on with it. We need to change the way we think about transport.

There will be contentious issues but this is one area of transport where we cannot go at the speed of the slowest. If we did, we would be overtaken by the destruction of the things we hold dear: air quality, peace and tranquillity, the landscape qualities of the area.

The inheritance we would leave for future generations would be bleak.
