There is no better way to take the weight of the world off your shoulders than to take a walk along the Cleveland Way National Trail. This 110 mile/176 kilometre walking route follows the fantastic scenery of the North York Moors National Park, crossing stunning lengths of heather moorland and providing spectacular views of the North Yorkshire coastline.

The distance to walk is entirely up to you, some enjoy a few hours, some a few days and others take nine days to walk the full length between Helmsley and Filey.

You can purchase various guides to the Cleveland Way by visiting our Online Shop. The Six of the Best... guides give you some great circular routes on the Cleveland Way which you can do in a day or half a day.

New downloadable walks now available

There are 3 great new linear walks for you to download and enjoy. These are in a new style of Try a Trail walks - especially designed for anyone using public transport. They include 2 day walks if you have a weekend spare, though of course you can still split these walks into 2 separate days.

The new walks are:

  • Hambleton Hills - 11 mile linear walk from Sutton Bank to Osmotherley. (Click here for details)
  • Moors and Coast - 2 day linear walk from Kildale to Saltburn with an overnight stop at Guisborough (click here for details
  • North Yorkshire Coast - 2 day linear walk from Whitby to Scarborough with an overnight stop at Robin Hood's Bay (Click here for details)

In 2009 the Cleveland Way celebrated its 40th anniversary. You can watch a promotional video from the early 1970s on You tube.
