Conservation Area Appraisals

The National Park Authority has a duty to carry out written appraisals of the special historic and architectural character of the Conservation Areas under its control. These cover such issues as the setting and historical development of the Area; spatial and character analysis; possible boundary changes; general guidance for new development; and management and enhancement proposals. Appraisals will form supporting documents in the Authority’s Local Development Framework, and will therefore be relevant documents in the assessment and determination of planning applications, and they should therefore be useful documents for those considering carrying out development within the Conservation Areas. They will be made available in this section as they are completed.
