Conservation Awards 2007

£500 is up for grabs to support environmental projects that are helping to conserve and enhance the North York Moors National Park.

The North Yorkshire Moors Association invites applications from individuals, groups or organisations for its Conservation Award. Applicants should be carrying out work which will further the objectives for which the Park was designated, namely to "Conserve and enhance the natural and/or the built environment of the North York Moors". Examples of the kind of work which would be eligible are:

  • Creation of a wetland for curlew or snipe
  • Planting or improving an oak or ash woodland
  • Restoring and finding a new use for a derelict farm building
  • Restoring a historic feature
  • Building a new environmentally-friendly structure which fits in to the Park's environment

Applications should give details of the objectives of the work, the person or persons involved, and the progress to date - the project need not necessarily have been completed provided that tangible progress has been made. Entries will be judged during Spring 2007 by a panel of members of the Association and an award of £500 contributed jointly by the Association and the Park Authority will be made to the winning entry. For more details please contact the NYMA Secretary at the address below. You can also find out more about the award and past recipients at www.north-yorkshire-moors.org.uk
