Cycling

Ready for a two-wheel adventure?

The North York Moors is a fantastic location for cycling, whether you're a family cyclist or a world-class mountain biker.

If you're looking for inspiration, check out our downloadable cycling routes, right across the North York Moors and Howardian Hills. We have miles of country roads, bridleways, forest tracks and disused railway lines, and there are three dedicated cycling centres:

  • Sutton Bank - for families and those new to mountain biking
  • Dalby Forest - for families right through to more experienced mountain bikers
  • Yorkshire Cycle Hub - for more experienced mountain bikers and road cyclists

You can see the best of the National Park on the 'Moor to Sea Cycle Network' – 150 miles of pedal-powered freedom, taking you through some of the finest scenery in Britain.

If you'd rather stick to our quiet moorland roads, the 171-mile North York Moors Cycleway guides road cyclists in a figure of eight loop using quieter roads and past many of the landscape’s highlights.

If you find a problem on any public right of way in the North York Moors National Park, please let us know by using this form.

If you're planning a visit to the North York Moors, find out how to do your bit to keep the National Park special and have a great time.
