Education
The National Park Authority’s Education Service helps people, especially young people, to experience, enjoy and understand the special qualities of the North York Moors. It is hoped that through greater awareness and understanding our young people will care for these treasured landscapes and pass them on, protected and enhanced, to future generations.
The Education Service provides a variety of services for groups of all ages and abilities, teachers and individual students. The Education Service is based at The Moors Centre at Danby. Activities for groups are provided here and at Sutton Bank National Park Centre, in local schools and colleges and at other locations throughout the Park.
Activities include talks, guided walks, map reading and navigating, woodland studies, seashore studies, art and craft activities, conservation tasks and adventure activities.
In addition to meeting up to 15,000 young people a year, the service also provides resources for teachers and information about the National Park for individual children and students to help with school projects. Check out the Learning Zone and the Fun Zone to find out more.
