Electronic government
The Government’s vision for 2005 is to modernise the way all public sector organisations deliver their services. The aim is to provide services built around customer needs rather than the organisational structure of individual service providers so making services more accessible to all.
One of the major keys to making this reality is the “Implementing Electronic Government” initiative which aims to use new technology as a driving force to help deliver services to the public in a more cost effective and efficient manner. Much of this is being done as partnership projects with other public and private sector bodies.
The main partners of North York Moors National Park Authority include the other UK National Park Authorities; North Yorkshire County Council; local District Councils; Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs; Natural England; English Nature; English Heritage and the Forestry Commission.
The Internet (including development of our website) is seen as being a core element in helping provide information as well as improved telephone access and making public access points available in the community via partnerships with other public bodies such as the libraries.
All local authorities were required to produce an “Implementing Electronic Government Statement” outlining the strategy being adopted for enabling 100% “electronic service delivery” by 2005. The most recent revision of this document was submitted to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) for approval in December 2004.
