Information and interpretation

A landscape to care for, a place to enjoy

Information and InterpretationThis is our by line and it really says why we provide information and interpretation.

We offer information to everyone, worldwide, so that they can enjoy the National Park, either in their own homes or here in the North York Moors.

We also interpret the Moors, its landscape, its heritage and all the pieces of the jigsaw that fit together to make it what it is. Interpretation is something more than just information. Having an understanding of the National Park is the key to an appreciation of its beauty and fragility and its need for conservation.

Whenever and wherever we can, we try to provide information and interpretation. We often work in partnership with others so that we can take National Park messages to where people are rather than expecting them to come to us. We run interpretative events which take all sorts of forms; walks and talks, experiences, adventure but most of all, fun.

Information and interpretation underpins everything that the National Park Authority does. All projects now include an element of information work so that we ensure that people understand what we do and why we are doing it.
