Moorland Advice and Grants
The heather moorland of the North York Moors is internationally important for wildlife and 44,000 ha is designated as a Special Site of Scientific Interest, a Special Protection Area and a Special Area of Conservation. Over the majority of the moorland, it is important to continue the traditional management for sheep and grouse.
Natural England can help fund beneficial moorland management and conservation projects through their Environmental Stewardship Scheme. Free advice and help with applications are provided by the National Park Authority, in partnership with Natural England.
