Authority Services

Recreation Management

Because of the overlapping issues between Recreation Management and Rangers, Estate Services and Volunteers the reviews of these two services were done at the same time.

In a bid to canvass perceptions and issues on these areas of our work over 2000 questionnaires were distributed and in excess of 500 responses were received.

The main findings included:

  • Management of access and Rights of Way is most people’s top priority
  • Rangers are valued for their work with local communities
  • There is a lack of knowledge about delivery of local grants
  • Clear signposting and trail guides were highlighted as the most important aspects of Rights of Way management
  • Rights of Way were rated good (83%) or excellent (13%)
  • 40% of respondents were unaware of volunteering opportunities
  • 70% rated volunteers’ work as good.
