The Coalition Government announced its intention to abolish Regional Spatial Strategies in July 2010. This is being carried out as part of the Localism Bill and once enacted, the Yorkshire and Humber Plan will no longer form part of the Development Plan for the National Park. The Government has announced its intentions for the future of the planning system and intends to produce a National Planning Policy Statement later this year after which the Authority will be reviewing its position and the need for revised policy documents. In the meantime, further advice on the situation has been produced by the Planning Inspectorate for use by its Inspectors and this can be accessed by clicking here.
