The Members

 

The Members of the Authority are not directly elected:

  • 1 is appointed by Hambleton District Council
  • 5 are appointed by North Yorkshire County Council
  • 2 are appointed by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council
  • 2 are appointed by Ryedale District Council
  • 2 are appointed by Scarborough Borough Council
  • 4 are Parish Members elected by Parish Councils in the National Park and appointed by the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
  • 5 are appointed by the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

So to summarise there are 12 members appointed by local authorities and 9 appointed by the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
