The Yorkshire Arboretum, run by the Castle Howard Arboretum Trust, a partnership between Kew and Castle Howard Estates, is a glorious 150 acre garden of trees offering family activities, a café, woodland walks, tours, interactive displays, events, lakeside trails and outdoor education.

Visitors wanting nothing more than to enjoy the serenity and beauty of this sheltered valley tucked away in the Howardian Hills are welcomed, as well as those with an academic interest in their collection of over 6,000 trees and shrubs.

The Arboretum is open every day from early Spring to late Autumn and the view changes every day.

Accessibility

Disabled parking immediately outside the visitor centre doors (4 spaces). No steps or stairs in the centre. Full toilet facilities including disabled facilities.

150 acres of parkland and woodland. Varying gradients. No paved paths or handrails. The terrain is not suitable for wheelchair access, or for visitors with very limited mobility. Please select footwear suitable for uneven, grassy ground.

All-terrain buggies available on loan at no charge (must be booked in advance)
