The Parks and Countryside Service run a mid-week and a Saturday Volunteer Group offering a variety of rural and urban fringe practical conservation tasks in the Scarborough and district area. Volunteers to help with a variety of survey work are also encouraged. Tasks can be arranged for a school or community group on request.

YWT organise a programme of conservation tasks at nature reserves in the Yorkshire Region (Volvox Wildlife Calendar detailing all planned tasks is available from YWT)
For children with an interest in nature and the environment, `Wildlife Watch` Groups meet in Scarborough and Helmsley. The groups are for children aged 8 upwards. Contact the Education Officer at the above address for details of Watch groups and work for schools.

The National Trust organise a range of projects as part of a national working holidays programme. Mainly environmental conservation tasks but also include opportunities to work on a range of projects including events, archaeology and art projects.
