All Members of the Authority serve on the Planning Committee.

Its responsibilities include:

  • Determining planning applications
  • Authorising some enforcement action
  • Deciding on the formation and review of planning policies
  • Authorising Tree Preservation Orders

10.  To consider applications, together with the Director of Planning recommendations thereon:-

  1. NYM/2025/0328 - Construction of workshop building with parking provision to support tree surgery business together with landscaping at land south east of Park Nook Farm, Langburns Bank, Castleton
  2. NYM/2024/0577 - Construction of 14no. dwellings (six affordable and eight principal residence units), conversion of Station House into four principal residence apartments with associated parking, conversion of Goods Shed building into two principal residence dwellings and landscaping works at West Ayton Highways Depot, Garth End Road, West Ayton
  3. NYM/2025/0442 - Use of land as a wedding and seasonal events venue between April and September each calendar year, siting of a triple hat TiPi, stretch tent and pop up bar, erection of five timber structures for use as office, bridal room, groom's den, catering pod, registrar's office and decking for use as wedding aisle, provision of parking and toilet facilities and landscaping works  at land within and near Lamb Close Plantation, located east of the railway line, Great Ayton - Please Note the applicant has withdrawn the above application, therefore it has been removed from the Planning Agenda
  4. NYM/2024/0482 - Construction of single storey link extension together with alterations to former farm building to facilitate the use as annexe accommodation approved under extant planning permission NYM/2009/0592/FL at Ladysmith Farm, Stoupe Brow
  5. NYM/2024/0484 - Listed Building consent for construction of single storey link extension together with conversion of former farm building to annexe accommodation at Ladysmith Farm, Stoupe Brow
