Its responsibilities include:
- Determining planning applications
- Authorising some enforcement action
- Deciding on the formation and review of planning policies
- Authorising Tree Preservation Orders

8. Adoption of two new Conservation Area Appraisals
9. To consider applications, together with the Director of Planning recommendations thereon:-
- NYM/2025/0157 - Change of use of disused quarry to camping and caravan site (43 caravan pitches and 16 tent pitches), construction of amenity building and reception/washroom and geological visitor centre building together with access infrastructure, landscaping works and improvements to the quarry face to allow geological study at land at Spikers Hill Quarry, Cockrah Road, West Ayton - Please Note the applicant’s agent has withdrawn the above application, therefore it has been removed from the Planning Agenda
- NYM/2025/0475 - Conversion of silo to 1 no. local occupancy dwelling with amenity space at Mortar Pit Farm, Sneatonthorpe
- NYM/2025/0214 - Demolition of derelict building, construction of four principal residence dwellings with associated accesses, garages/car ports, parking, amenity space and landscaping works at land between 3 and 9 Eskdaleside, Sleights
- NYM/2025/0501 - Alterations to windows and doors, construction of two dormer windows, installation of one additional rooflight and solar panels at 20 Back Lane, Osmotherley

10. Such other business as, in the opinion of the Chair, should, by reason of special circumstances, be considered as a matter of urgency.
11. Exclusion of the public from the meeting during consideration of Item No 12 on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1, 2, 6 and 7, of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972.
