Its responsibilities include:

  • Determining planning applications
  • Authorising some enforcement action
  • Deciding on the formation and review of planning policies
  • Authorising Tree Preservation Orders

1. Livestreaming and recording – The chair to inform members of the public that the meeting is livestreamed and recorded.

2. Emergency evacuation procedure – The chair to inform members of the public of the emergency evacuation procedure.

11.  To consider applications, together with the Director of Planning recommendations thereon:-

  1. NYM/2024/0577 - construction of 30no. dwellings (mix of affordable, principal residence and open market), conversion of Station House into four apartments with associated parking/garages and amenity space, conversion of engine shed building into 2 principal residence dwellings and landscaping works at West Ayton Highways Depot, Garth End Road, West Ayton
  2. NYM/2024/0730 - use of land for camping, caravanning and the siting of three glamping pods for holiday purposes, construction of amenity block building and single storey bistro/cafe building together with access improvements, internal access roads, parking, creation of wildlife pond with viewing deck and landscaping works at St Hilda's Farm, 3 High Street, Hinderwell
  3. NYM/2024/0825 - construction of one local occupancy dwelling (NPPF para. 84) with associated garaging, stabling, access, parking and landscaping together with equine building (barn) with green roof and solar panel system (revised scheme to NYM/2023/0063) at land adjacent to Willow Wood Way, Stainsacre
  4. NYM/2024/0544 - removal of jetties, siting of two sauna pods on decking and proposed decked seating area with pergola at Lakeside, Raithwaite Estate, Sandsend, Whitby
  5. NYM/2024/0588 -  construction of first floor side extension at 6 The Old Stubble, Staithes
  6. NYM/2024/0589 -  demolition of existing garage and construction of double garage at garage to the south of 5 & 6 The Old Stubble, Staithes
  7. NYM/2024/0824 - variation of condition 3 of planning approval NYM/2021/0749/FL (allowed on appeal) to allow a stone base and render finish to extension at Newton House, Roseberry Lane, Newton under Roseberry
