Enforcement Team Leader

The North York Moors National Park has some of the most dramatic and unspoilt landscapes in the UK ranging from picturesque villages and moorland to remote dales and rugged coastline. The Park is unique and we need talented staff who are dedicated to helping us keep it that way. Successful enforcement and monitoring is the key to maintaining the credibility of the planning process within the National Park. We aim to be proactive by checking that planning conditions are complied with, as well as reacting to complaints from the public about breaches of planning regulations.

Salary:  £28.7k to £32k with potential progression to £35.9k

Conservation Graduate Trainee

We have a career enhancing opportunity for a Graduate Trainee to work in our Conservation team. The successful person will have the chance to be involved in all areas of our conservation work, and delivery of the Authority’s work in relation to woodland, freshwater, moorland and terrestrial habitats and species. You will need to be a good communicator as meeting with land managers, and farmers to discuss agreements is essential and you’ll be keen to get involved with other staff, apprentices and volunteers.

Salary:  £17,364 - £17,711

River Esk Project

The Esk and Coastal Streams Catchment Partnership - Yorkshire Esk Rivers Trust (YERT) and North York Moors National Park Authority (NYMNPA), are delivering education initiatives, community monitoring schemes and habitat restoration works to improve and conserve the catchment for future generations to enjoy. As a result of successfully securing external funding for the River Esk, we now have a couple of opportunities based in our Helmsley office but working on the Esk catchment on an initial 12 month fixed term contract with the possibility of extension dependent on funding. Ryevitalise Landscape Partnership Scheme

‘Ryevitalise ’ is a £3.4 million Landscape Partnership Scheme supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and centered around the River Rye catchment. We are delighted that our Stage 2 bid has been successful and work on the delivery of the four year scheme will commence in summer 2019. The scheme will revitalise the Rye’s natural and cultural heritage, reconnecting people to the river and supporting the regeneration of the landscape through an exciting suite of projects. Successfully securing the funding means that we now need to recruit a project team and have a number of opportunities for posts based in Helmsley on a four year fixed term contract. Countryside Worker Apprentice (Helmsley and Castleton)

North York Moors National Park and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway are working together to offer fantastic apprenticeship opportunities thanks to the National Heritage Lottery Fund. This is a great chance for you to develop practical countryside skills, working as part of a team, alongside the railway and in the rest of the National Park.

Salary:  £7,523.80 + £1,173 supplement per annum
