Could your farm benefit from a fresh perspective and expert support?
We are looking for three forward-thinking farms from across the North York Moors National Park to join the Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) funded Be the Change programme, an 18-month coaching programme designed to help farmers build resilient, profitable and regenerative businesses. There will be a focus on the balance between food production and enhanced biodiversity on each farm.
Liz Genever, farm systems consultant and agroecological coach, and Amy Hughes, founder of EmpowerAg, specialising in people-first training and consultancy, are leading the programme. They'll take a deep dive into your farm business, helping you identify opportunities, overcome challenges and create a clearer path for the future.
Each selected farm will receive support worth over £10,000, including:
- One-to-one coaching covering finances, soils, livestock performance, succession planning, family dynamics, and personal and business goals
- Soil management and grazing mentoring, with a focus on enhancing soil health and sward diversity
- Ecology and environmental scheme health checks
- Subsidised soil and forage testing
- Peer-to-peer learning and support from other participating farms
- Access to specialist expertise tailored to your farm's needs
- Involvement in bespoke workshops that are open to all farmers in the national park
We're looking for farms where the majority of income comes from farming and where there is a genuine desire to explore change – whether that's reducing inputs, improving soils, encouraging biodiversity, reviewing livestock systems, or simply gaining clarity on the next steps.
The programme will culminate in participants hosting an on-farm event in summer 2027, sharing their journey and learning with others.
Applications are now open and close on Friday 17 July (5pm). Please click here for the online application form
