Tree planting took place at Breckhouse Farm back in 2018 as part of our Woodland Creation Grant Scheme. The aim of the project was to create and establish two areas of a new native woodland and one area of wood pasture.
All areas included the planting of site native species, such as oak, silver Birch, hazel, and have been designed specifically with landscape, biodiversity and resilience in mind.
The new native woodland will be low density Oak/Hazel woodland which is typical of woodlands in the surrounding landscape. The Wood Pasture (compartment C) will be predominantly Oak but also Rowan and Birch. Specific considerations for the planting include Archaeology and a Public Right of Way crossing through the planting area.
