Planning service from 19 July 2021
With Step 4 of the Roadmap now enacted, the Planning service will revert to similar pre-covid times, though some precautions are still being applied due to the rising cases of infections.
Processes for determining planning applications, including site visits, consultation and decision making will revert to normal circumstances, with planning staff available to provide advice through our pre-application advice service as set out on our website.
The offices at Helmsley are now open to the public, though as “blended home/office working” is being adopted as a norm, prior appointment and use of the formal pre-app service is advised for planning queries in person.
Planning Committee meetings
The National Park Planning Committee will return to pre-covid arrangements and actual meetings, open to the public, will take place in the Committee Room at the Helmsley Offices on a six week basis.
However items on the agenda will be timed and applicants/public will be advised in advance of the set time of their item to avoid unnecessary waiting and so that numbers can be limited to a maximum of ten members of the public at any one time. As our Committee room is a small enclosed space, with limited ventilation (windows will be open), we also ask that face masks are worn inside except when speaking.
