Important Undeveloped and Community Spaces Maps

Important Undeveloped and Community Spaces (October 2017)
Links to maps showing proposed Important Undeveloped and Community Spaces are available below.
Community spaces have been identified where provide a recreational benefit and are open to the public to use. Examples include play areas, church yards, non-registered village greens and sports pitches.
Important Undeveloped Spaces have been identified where they are important in providing the form and character of villages. The criteria we used for designation are:
- The space makes a positive contribution to the overall form, character and appearance of the settlement;
- The space makes a positive contribution to the setting of a building or groups of buildings either listed or of historical or architectural interest;
- The space provides a vista/viewpoint into the surrounding countryside;
- The space provides a visual relief in a settlement where there is a change in the pattern or character of development
- The site has archaeological or historic interest;
- The space provides an open setting for a visually important tree(s) or is important for biodiversity.
More information can be found in the accompanying topic paper.
If you would like us to consider any space which hasn’t yet been identified, you can submit the space via the online mapping system, or alternatively please annotate a map and post it back to us explaining why you think the space should be considered for designation.
Please note that for the identification of important undeveloped spaces we are only looking at in-village spaces as back-land areas or fields at the edge of villages will not generally be acceptable locations for development. For community spaces, these can be anywhere in the National Park.
(Please note that some community spaces are proposed to be included in further drafts of the plan which fall outside the settlements listed below, or where the settlement is split by the National Park boundary they may fall outside the National Park but are identified as they serve the community. They are listed here.)
