The North York Moors National Park is a special place. We're sure we don't need to tell you that, but we would like to introduce you to our countryside code – the Moors Message.

Please enjoy the countryside but leave it as you found it, for others to enjoy.

Uncontrolled fires can devastate vast areas of moorland, which may never fully recover. Don't start campfires or drop cigarettes or matches.


Leave no trace of your visit and take your litter home.

Keep dogs under effective control. and please follow our guidance on walking with dogs.

Respect other people 

Consider the local community and other people enjoying the outdoors. The National Park is a quiet place. Try to keep it that way. Follow advice and local signs.
