North York Moors Rural Coastal Community Team
In 2015, the North York Moors National Park Authority secured £10,000 from the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) to form a Coastal Community Team to help revive our seaside villages and decide where investment should be channelled.
A Coastal Community Team is a local partnership consisting of the local authority and a range of people and business interests from a coastal community who have an understanding of the issues facing that area and can develop an effective forward strategy for that place.
Working with local businesses, communities, parishes and local authorities, we have established the North York Moors Rural Coastal Communities Team to support the communities of Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hood’s Bay.
Our Team’s priority will be helping to maximise the unique visitor experience we offer along a National Park coastline and make the most of our stunning seaside assets.
We submitted the Team's first Economic Plan to the Coastal Communities Team at DCLG in January 2016. The plan identifies our priority projects to help develop local tourism in the area in a sustainable way. Some of the outlined projects have been delivered through our first Coastal Communities Fund project, Sea Life, See Life (April 2015 - December 2016).
Once again, on behalf of the Coastal Community Team, we secured a £275,000 grant from the Coastal Communities Fund to deliver 'Moor to Sea: new activities and niches on the North York Moors Coast’, which ran for just under two years (May 2017 to March 2019). More of the Economic Plan's priorities were put into action during this project.
The Economic Plan can be found here. It's a living document and will continue to evolve over time - if you have any comments, thoughts or ideas on it, please contact the Team at firstname.lastname@example.org
