Food & drink festivals
With no let up in interest in all things local, especially delicious food, and a burgeoning microbrewery scene, it's great to be able to celebrate all of this at a growing number of food, beer and artisan gin festivals in 2018. It's food and drink heaven!
Don't forget our monthly farmers' markets for more regular local food fixes and Country Markets (formerly known as WI Markets), while food is integral to the summer's agricultural and country shows too.
- Malton Harvest Food Festival - 8 September 2018
Celebrating the best of autumn, with game and seafood from the North York Moors - think wild boar sausages, grouse, venison, mussels, oysters, foraged food, soft fruit, baking and more. Alongside a wide range of stalls, you’ll find street food, live chef demos, live music, festival bar and more.
- The Sun Inn, Pickering - 21-23 September 2018
Renowned real ale pub holds its fourth annual beer and cider festival, with live music and food throughout the weekend.
- Food Festival, Castle Howard 5-7 October 2018
Working with the Fantastic Food Festivals for the first time, expect a high-quality Food & Drink themed weekend in Castle Howard's beautiful surroundings.
- Stokesley Food Fest - 6-7 October 2018
Expect a whole week of foodie themed events across the market town with local food and drink producers showcasing their products outside the town hall, live music and pop-up food demonstrations and a super farmers' market.
- Filey Food Festival - 13-14 October 2018
Great food from brilliant producers, cookery demos from local chefs, live music, beer, fun fair and much more.
- Cropton Brewery Beer Festival - 16-18 November 2018
The Cropton Brewery Beer Festival will celebrate its 24th birthday in 2018. Described as legendary by CAMRA, expect live music, loads of homemade food and more than 80 real ales, lagers and traditional ciders.
2019 food & drink festivals
- Guisborough Beer Festival (April annually)
Organised by The Rotary Club of Guisborough & Great Ayton, with Cleveland CAMRA and Guisborough & District Round Table as a charity fundraiser, take your pick from 36 real ales, ciders and perrys.
- Malton Gin Festival (April tbc)
New in 2018, gin specialists, McMillans of Malton bring together up to ten gin suppliers at The Talbot Hotel.
- Scarborough Food & Drink Festival (May tbc)
New in 2018, a two day food and drink celebration, with exhibitors, live cookery demonstrations, music and seafront kitchen with guest appearances from Michelin Star chefs
- Beertown (May tbc)
Malton held its first Craft Beer Festival in 2014 to mark the craft beer revival, with two microbreweries, Bad Seed Brewery and Brass Castle now brewing their real ales in town. The festival returns in 2019 with even more craft beers, street food and music and a preview on the Thursday.
- Malton Food Lovers Festival (May tbc)
Not to be missed and now firmly on the foodies calendar, showcasing Yorkshire's fabulous bounty and speciality food from further afield. 150 food stalls and street food, mixed in with passionate local and celebrity chefs, cookery demos, tutored tastings, festival bar, live music and more.
- Swanning around Pickering (June tbc)
Head to Whistlers Yard, at the back of the Black Swan Pickering to find 20 different Yorkshire Beers, lots of different gins, and meet the faces behind your favourite drinks. Plus live music and entertainment and plenty of street food.
- Seafest Maritime Festival (July tbc)
Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2018, seafood lovers descend on the mini-food festival held as part of Scarborough's maritime heritage celebrations. Sample the food stalls and enjoy free seafood cookery demos in the Seafest Food Theatre with leading Yorkshire chefs, plus the Great Yorkshire Brewery hosts a real ale and beer festival with over 40 local real ales, beers and ciders.
Based at The Whitby Mission & Seafarers Centre, over 30 real ales, ciders and perries to sample from local and regional microbreweries, with all proceeds going to local charities. Plenty of local food too.
- Saltburn Food Festival (July tbc)
The farmers' market is boosted by special guest chefs in the live cookery theatre, children’s cookery workshops in the Family Kitchen, and beer festival. Make use of the Park & Ride on the Whitby Vintage Bus.
- Ginilicious Festival - (August tbc)
New for 2018, Helmsley's first gin festival brought to you by the gin experts at Helmsley Wines. Head to Helmsley Town Hall to sample over 50 of the finest gins, meet craft distillers plus funky entertainment. Tickets will not be available on the day so must be pre-booked.
