Vienna Forrester

Artist and jeweller Vienna Forrester has been developing her unique fractal art techniques since 2004. She has exhibited widely in the UK, and in 2014 both exhibited and won a Merit Award at the prestigious International Arts Festival in Kefalonia, Greece.
She is inspired by patterns in the natural world. Wild, unspoiled places feature in her work, and ocean waves, vast expanses of sky and beautiful vistas fascinate and energise her. Her aim is to capture colour, movement and a feeling of 'being there'.
She works on location with a digital camera to create a base fractal, which is then manipulated to create something that resonates with her about the particular place visited.
Her silver jewellery essentially forms miniature versions of her larger works, with each piece set under glass and using precious and base metal leafs, along with mica, to give them an iridescence, liquidity and depth when they catch the light.
Vienna says:
Remembering places you know and love is not just about the physical actuality of those places; memories, dreams and colours merge to create something more than a photograph can capture.
I love the fact that people viewing my work look deeply into the patterns and discover images that resonate personally with them. It’s like looking at clouds – people see different things and spend ages discovering images within images.
That's the mysterious beauty of fractals – the closer you look, the more they reveal.
