A Wondering Presence

Saturday 14 February – Monday 16 March

Visual artist Wendy Tate embarks on a poetic exploration of the National Park, through her painting, printmaking, poetry, ceramics and photography.

Wendy Tate

Wendy Tate is a visual artist working in paint, photography, print and ceramics.

She has an MA in painting and has worked for many years with a digital camera, often layering images to express something beyond the obvious. Often those images are the starting point for etchings, collagraphs and paintings.

Wendy lives in Scarborough and has a true affinity for the land and seascape around her. She is surrounded by moorland, woods and the sea and counts it a daily privilege to immerse herself in their colours and smells. These envelop the land like a magician’s cloak and, in turn, feed her passions.

Wendy is currently interested in the way landscape can speak of the human condition. Her work tries to capture more than just mere image – she endeavours to represent both the image and the feeling of awe that she experiences when at large in the landscape.
