Initial Engagement

Sustainability Appraisal
Sustainability Appraisal (SA) is a technical exercise which assesses a plan or programme’s objectives to make sure that any plan or programme contributes as much as possible to more sustainable development. Sections of the Management Plan are assessed against sustainable development objectives at each stage of its preparation. The process incorporates a 'Strategic Environmental Assessment,' as required under the 2004 Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes Regulations 2004.

An initial 'Scoping Report' was prepared over the summer and sent to Natural England, the Environment Agency and Historic England for comments. A 'consultation version' of the SA was then prepared and is available from the links below.

Habitats Regulation Assessment
Habitats Regulation Assessment is carried out to make sure than none of the objectives contained in the Management Plan, when implemented would have an adverse impact on a site of international importance for its wildlife. The report concluded that they would not.

Equality Impact Assessment
Equality impact assessments ensure that our policies do not discriminate against anyone and where possible we promote equal opportunity. The equality impact assessment enables us to consider the likely impact of work on different groups of people. Completion of equality impact assessments is a legal requirement under race, disability and gender equality legislation.
