Ms H Moorhouse

Heather Moorhouse

Having recently retired, I am now keeping myself busy spending time with my Grandchildren and enjoying my hobbies, such as horse riding and bringing on two young foals that I have bred.

As well as my North Yorkshire County Council and North York Moors National Park responsibilities, I am an active board member for the Esk Valley Railway and I am delighted to say I have managed to get extra train services for this underused line.

Favourite Place in the National Park

It has to be Easby Moor, riding my horse up through the bluebell woods up on to the top, makes the cares of the world disappear in an instance. I value the importance of our National Parks, protecting them and their sustainability for future generations, has to be my priority.

Having lived my formative years in the market town of Stokesley and resided in the small hamlet of Easby for some 30 years, I count myself extremely lucky that I have been able to enjoy all the benefits of living in and around the North York Moors National Park.

I have quite a busy life balancing my job at a local family steel business, along with my North Yorkshire County Council and National Park responsibilities, it is at times quite challenging, however the rewards can be worthwhile.
