Footpath No 30.26.001/1 Sandsend

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 – Section 14(1) (as amended)

The North York Moors National Park Authority has made an Order, the effect of which is to make the following closure in the parish of Lythe in the Borough of Scarborough:

On a length of the former Sandsend Rail line and Cleveland Way between Grid Ref NZ 8586 1329 generally north for 610 metres to Grid Reference NZ 8581 1384

The alternative route is to turn west off the old railway line and Cleveland Way at Grid Ref NZ 8586 1329 to follow the Sandsend Trail, a permissive path granted by Mulgrave Estate, which leads upward for 175 metres to reach the cliff top at NZ 8574 1329.  From here joining a public footpath heading generally north along the cliff top for 460 metres to Grid Ref NZ 8569 1365.  From this point the route leaves the public footpath and turns generally north east on a permissive path descending the cliff slope for 250 metres to rejoin the former railway line and Cleveland Way at NZ 8581 1384

The order is necessary for public safety due to cliff slippage on the coastal path
