Stories from the moors


Ruins, stones and bumps in the ground can all tell us what life used to be like in the North York Moors - but so can written records, stories, folk tales and legends.
First-hand accounts are particularly valuable, and we're collecting fascinating and thought-provoking documents that help shine a light on the local history of the North York Moors.

Prize-winning stories
In 2012, the National Park celebrated its 60th anniversary. Among other special events, we held a story-writing competition for local schools, open to children from the primary schools located within the National Park. Read on, and prepare to be amazed and entertained!
