Boasting tranquil coves, quiet forest valleys, peaceful nature reserves and long stretches of sandy beaches, the North York Moors is the perfect place for relaxation. If you’re looking for outer calm to find inner peace, you’ll find it here in lazy days and scenic walks.
For more mindful outdoor activities why not try yoga on the beach? At Saltburn, Tree Living Yoga run weekly yoga and surf sessions during the summer. Or, further down the coast, yogging combines a gentle jog with yoga and reflection at Sandsend every Thursday throughout the year. If a slower pace sounds more appealing, YHA Boggle Hole often runs beach yoga, followed by mindful porridge eating.

For a more restful practise or holistic therapy treatment there are lots to choose from along the coast. Head to Saltburn and visit the Yoga, Meditation and Therapy Space or Saltburn Wellbeing Centre for yoga, Tai Chi and healing meditations. Meanwhile The Healing Rooms provide a calming environment for holistic therapies and the shop sells candles and other goodies to support your relaxation at home.
Heading south to the delightful fishing village of Staithes, be sure to visit The Reiki Hut for a session of ancient healing energy. It is said to bring deep relaxation, dissolve energy blockages and detoxifies the body.
Or closer to Whitby, set in its own wooded grounds is Raithwaite Sandsend, who hold regular spa packages and occasional yoga workshops. Nearer to town, look out for yoga and Tai Chi sessions at the Green Lane Centre.
Visit Treat Therapy at Robin Hood’s Bay. With an impressive list of treatments, this little gem is worth exploring. Meanwhile The Healing Touch located in an atmospheric, converted chapel in the hamlet of Staintondale has a host of pampering treatments on offer, undertaken in a deeply relaxing environment.
