Sally Parkin (Puffin)
Sally Parkin is a practising artist living and working in Farndale in the North York Moors National Park, since 1970. She studied at Leeds College of Art and the Royal College of Art gaining a Dip A D hons in Fine Art and a postgraduate in Printmaking from Leeds and an M Art RC and travelling scholarship from London.
Since moving back north, she has taught at Middlesbrough College of Art and Bradford College of Art, leaving both on the birth of her son. She went on to be head of art at a small local prep school for 30 years, at the same time running a business working as a designer and manufacturer for Liberty of London and employing 12 outworkers supplying their linen department.
Sally mostly works with print techniques, usually lino, but also painting and drawing, oil paint being her preferred painting medium. Recently, she has been working with a colleague to realise her lino prints onto fabric and make them up into cushions and fabric lengths.
She has exhibited widely and has work in many private and public collections including the Arts Council of Great Britain and Leeds Art Gallery print collection.
