Working in watercolour, Jake Jones focuses on light and atmosphere to create pieces inspired by the constantly changing beauty of the North York Moors and coast.
Jake Jones moved to North Yorkshire in 2015 to pursue a full-time art career. His watercolours reflect a love of the landscape in which he now lives:
Windswept and sometimes bleak, yet always beautiful.
The moors and coast of North Yorkshire provide constant inspiration. Jake seeks to capture the essence and feeling of the environment in its transitions, from day to night and from misty mornings to the glow of sunset.
Working with a limited palette and using photographs to remind rather than dictate, Jake spends time in his studio creating pieces with the intention of connecting with the viewer emotionally.
