Cleveland Fibre Arts
Cleveland Fibre Arts was established in the early 1990s. The group of about thirty members – all women who live in the North York Moors and East Cleveland area – meets monthly to share knowledge and skills and to keep alive a number of traditional rural crafts.
They specialise in working with textiles, in a variety of mediums, especially with wool – from processing fleeces to spinning, weaving, knitting and felting.
They also work with silk, fabric and woollens to produce quilts and rugs, with all their work inspired by the beautiful and dramatic moors, coast and Cleveland Hills.
The current exhibition focuses on the quilting work of the Cleveland Fibre Arts group, and reflects the changing light, colours and textures of the seasonal landscapes.
