(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS)
Public Footpath 1 West Ayton (part of) (Forge Valley)

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 – Section 14(1) (as amended)
The North York Moors National Park Authority has made an Order, the effect of which is to make the following closure in the parish of West Ayton in the Borough of Scarborough:
Public Footpath 1 West Ayton (part of) (A-B):
No pedestrian shall proceed along part of Public Footpath 1 West Ayton past Ayton Castle and then through the Forge Valley in a generally northerly direction between Grid Reference SE
Alternative route:
Permissive Footpath, Public Footpath 702 West Ayton & the U551 Cockrah Road
(B-C-D-A):
Pedestrians can proceed along the permissive route commencing at Grid Reference SE
The Order is necessary due to the unsafe condition of the boardwalk and will take effect on 14 October 2026.
The closure will be put into effect by means of the erection of notices, signs and maps, and the alternative route will be signed on site where appropriate.
