About The Art Café Contemporary Gallery
Welcome to The Art Café Contemporary Gallery which is one of the largest independent galleries in the North of England set on three floors and extending over the whole block on Flowergate in the centre of Whitby. Available for perusal and purchase, you’ll find a collection of some of the best art available today, including original paintings, printmaking, textile art, ceramics, photography, jewellery, glass, woodturning, sculpture and cards & small gifts. Much of the work on show is directly influenced by the wonderful vistas of the North York Moors and Coast.
Besides the gallery space, the building is also home to an intimate espresso lounge for a great cup of hand-roasted artisan coffee or even a glass of wine – a wonderful relaxing ‘chillout’ space away from the hustle and bustle of the busy Whitby streets, a working studio of internationally renowned Judith Reece, textile artist and ‘BookNook’ our latest development in collaboration with North Yorkshire based Orchid’s Lantern who have put together a curated selection of small press books to bring you the very best of lesser-known and innovative literature.
