There are lots of exciting cycling and mountain bike events in the North York Moors area for all ages, whether you're a seasoned cyclist, a beginner looking to improve your skills or simply looking for a great family day out. Mountain biking, cyclocross, gravel biking and enduro events 2023 & 2024
10 December 2023 - Kids Time Trial (Mini shredders and Rippers)
Location: Sutton Bank National Park Centre. Popular kids events return for 2023, with five age groups split across the skills loop outside Sutton Bank Bikes shop, Mini Shredders (for balance bikes up to 8 year olds), and kids Rippers time trial on the pump track and cyclocross loop (for 8-12 year olds). Pre-booking required. The cyclocross loop and pump track with be closed 9am-1pm and a signed diversion will be in place showing how to access the wider network of trails (Fort/Paradise/Drovers).
5 May 2024 - Dalby Forest Duathlon and Dalby Devil Gravel Ride.
Location: Dalby Forest. An Off-road Duathlon includes a sprint distance ideal for beginners (approx 5k, 20k2.5k) or a standard (approx 10k, 40k, 5 k), which can alos be done as a relay. The gravel rides will be around 50km or 100km on Dalby best gravel roads, suitable for gravel, cyclocross, mountain and hybrid bikes. Organiser and online booking: Wild Deer Events.
18-19 May 2024 - Boltby Bash
Location: Boltby near Thirsk - five stage enduro mountain bike race on wild and natural trails on private land, everything from flowing loam and technical rock gardens. Enjoys some fine panoramic views across the North York Moors National Park. Entries open November 2023. Online booking: SiEntries
26 May 2024 - Yorkshire Mountain Bike Marathon
Location: Birdsall Estates. The Yorkshire Mountain Bike Marathon is a traditional challenge mountain bike event that takes place around the private, normally un-accessible 12,000-acre Birdsall Estate. The event is inclusive and suitable for a variety of abilities, some will look to get a fast time and others will look to complete the challenge in their own time. However everyone will get to experience the natural single-track, woodland and unique terrain.
22 – 25 August 2024 - The Crossing (Rat Race)
Sample some of the UK’s finest mountain biking on this coast-to-coast 320km (200 mile) mountain bike ride on fully signed tracks, taking in the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks.

Road cycling events and sportives 2024
16 March - Daffodils Sportive
Location: Thirsk across the North York Moors to see Farndale's famous daffodils, with a choice of three routes 137km, 120km or 55km. (34,72 or 83 miles)
13 April - Ronde Yorkshire Sportive
Location: head off from Stokesley along one of three routes 173km, 142km or 78km. (107, 88 or miles), with the medium and long taking in the iconic assent of Chimney Bank.
16 June - Struggle Moors
Location: Full route to be revealed in 2024.
Struggle Moors is one of the UK's hardest sportives, set in the breathtaking North York Moors landscape. Struggle Moors boasts bucket-list cycling climbs woven into the best North York Moors scenery. Pre-register now.
22 June - Coast to Coast in a Day
Location: 241kms (150 miles) from Seascale to Whitby via Great Broughton, Kildale, Esk Valley. This annual event is very popular and you are advised to book as early as possible.
29 June - Yorkshire Beast
Location: Thirsk. The ultimate challenge, tackling both the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors over 327kms (200 miles) and with over 5,500m of climbing, taking in some of our greatest climbs including Boltby Bank, Caper Hill and Rosedale Chimney Bank.
September (date tbc) - Yorkshire Corker
Location: Starting at York St John University Sports Park, this charity ride has three routes, the longest heading into the North York Moors. Take your pick from The Stein 151km, The Full Pint 96km or The Half Pint 45km. (94, 60, or 28 miles)
October (date tbc) - The Tanfield Tour of Yorkshire Event
Location: Great Broughton. A chance to ride with our local pro cyclists, Harry and Charlie Tanfield, raising funds for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Yorkshire Cancer Research, on three routes 47km, 115km or 146km (30, 71 or 90 miles) across the North York Moors.
