Gliding

For unrivalled views of the North York Moors take to the skies in a glider for the ultimate free-flying experience and a perfect vantage point. And where better than to have a go than at Yorkshire Gliding Club? Based at the top of Sutton Bank, seeing the iconic Kilburn White Horse from above is a real highlight.

The Club is open 364 days a year, maintains a fleet of modern gliders and offers full-time professional instruction from one day trial lessons up to a five day gliding holiday. It's also an official Junior Gliding Centre, which means it offers gliding tuition at significantly reduced costs to people under 21 who are in full-time education.

Generally lessons or courses need to be booked in advance. However, as flying is largely dependent on the weather, it is advisable to phone the centre on the day of your booking to check if it is suitable. You can also check out the latest weather conditions on their webcam!
