The Moors Message

The North York Moors National Park is a special place. We're sure we don't need to tell you that, but we would like to introduce you to our countryside code – the Moors Message.
Please enjoy the countryside but leave it as you found it, for others to enjoy.
Fire
Uncontrolled fires can devastate vast areas of moorland, which may never fully recover. Don't start campfires or drop cigarettes or matches.
Litter
Leave no trace of your visit and take your litter home.
Dogs
Keep dogs under effective control. and please follow our guidance on walking with dogs.
Respect other people
Consider the local community and other people enjoying the outdoors. The National Park is a quiet place. Try to keep it that way. Follow advice and local signs.
Safety
Weather conditions can change quickly. Are you fully equipped? Plan ahead and be prepared – and read our advice on staying safe.
