The museum explores Whitby's strong links with shipping and the sea. A series of exhibitions chart the exploits of the two famous mariners 'Captain James Cook' and 'Captain William Scoresby' who are strongly connected with the town.
A number of other galleries also explore corals and uniforms, jet, archaeology, ethnography and the huge reptile fossils that were uncovered nearby.
