Cleveland Fibre Arts showcase their knowledge of traditional local crafts and textiles in a wide-ranging exhibition.
Cleveland Fibre Arts is a group of about twenty eight women all resident in towns and villages within reach of the North York Moors National Park, who have an interest in traditional local crafts. Our members are interested in crafts such as embroidery, stitching, lace-making, spinning, weaving, felting and working with locally produced sheep fleeces producing traditionally crafted items.
Additionally we stretch the boundaries and use new techniques to produce innovative work. We meet together once a month when we share knowledge and skills and encourage each other. We are particularly, but not exclusively interested in working with natural fibres and dyes, and keen to recycle fibres into our work whenever possible. Our inspiration comes from the beautiful coast and countryside we live in, which is constantly changing with the seasons and the wildlife that thrives there.
