Rob Moore
Rob Moore is a full time painter and printmaker, having worked in education for many years balancing practice and lecturing. After art school in Sheffield Rob was awarded the prestigious Granada Fellowship in Fine Art based in Manchester and since that time has exhibited regularly in museums and art galleries across the UK. Rob also had an interlude of several years where he set up a contemporary art gallery, artists' studios and workshops in Hull. Eleven Gallery still maintains a high profile in Hull’s creative quarter.
Rob has always put drawing high on his agenda as an artist. His creative output is always developing and he continuously keeps his work fresh and alive through exploration of new ideas and media experimentation. Starting as an abstract artist, more recently his art increasingly reflects the landscape that he enjoys immersing himself in but tinged with concerns for the environment and particularly global warming. He makes paintings and prints that are well crafted and unique to him and often talks about “ the hard won image “. His is a serious art that avoids the pressures of fashion and suggests a life and personal journey and history that gives his work its integrity.
Rob lives Scarborough and, with his partner Wendy Tate, has established studios and printmaking workshops in Alma Square where he shares his experience as an artist through small group printmaking sessions, mentoring and talks. He continues to curate exhibitions in the UK and initiated the Hull Printmaking Biennale several years ago.
