Apodemus sylvaticus
Inhabits woodlands, hedgerows, scrublands, and farmlands, favouring areas with dense vegetation and ground cover for shelter and food.
The wood mouse has a small, slender body with a gray-brown fur on its back and a lighter, creamy underside. It has large, round ears, a long, naked tail, and dark eyes. Its feet are white, and it has a pointed snout.
Nocturnal and solitary, typically active at night. It builds nests in dense vegetation or underground burrows for shelter. They are territorial and can be found in areas with plenty of cover to protect them from predators. Wood mice are also good climbers and swimmers.
